Stereotypes of Atheists

RE: Stereotypes of Atheists
Thank you for being polite to FNM, RR. He's a cool guy. I wouldn't want you two to have a falling out.

I think these debates are futile nowadays.

Of course, I totally disagree with her viewpoints, but she's not an asshole she seems like a nice person, and not a troll.
Strong Opinions?
Not meaning to stereotype, but I wouldn't think someone with those sort of strong opinions would join an Atheist Forums.
I would think it would be more likely they would think it would be a sin to read in these forums.

Definitely been called a 'god hater', amoral and a messenger of satan (even though I don't believe in satan).

She's a deist. I dunno whether she believes in sin or not.

She's definitely not a troll.

The worst I ever got was "maybe you should reconsider". That was in TX.
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

You forgot "just want/like to sin" or its alternate variant, "Just don't like following rules".

The "just immoral" one crops up a lot. Undecided
A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost

I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.

One of things I hear is " but you're so cute and nice!" Like am I supposed to be an evil or something ? Are they expecting the Wicked Witch Of the West?

RE: Stereotypes of Atheists
Yeah, I've gotten that one a few times... "I don't understand how you're so nice if you're an atheist." It practically bursts from people's pie-orifices when they learn I'm an outspoken (out-of-the-closet) atheist.

One of the reasons I'm growing my hair long again is that I get tired of being asked why I'm so clean-cut, when it's short enough that I can pass for "traditionally handsome", or whatever you want to call it; I guess we're "expected" to be socially-defiant outcasts or something.
