He must've seen it before transmission.
Does he want to appeal to people who like morons?

He's appealing to Alabamans that are as angry about the state of things as he is. It's a brilliant ploy in the current political environment, actually. Most (especially Conservative southerners) are unhappy with the Democrats right now, but the Republicans have fractured into various camps of insanity. The consensus is very anti-incumbent right now and anyone claiming to take on the the incumbency and reestablish the GOP is going to get votes.
Oh, and yes... a lot of people are that stupid... especially in the South it seems to this Northern Boy.

From a Brit perspective, it's pretty scary viewing a political candidate toting a rifle!
At least we haven't reached that level over here.....just yet!
