Do you mean 4U? Because the console ones obviously have a second stick. It took me a while to get used to not having one; I would find myself over-relying on the lock-on feature. It works nice for horizontal aiming, but it has its shortcomings as well, since it doesn't usually align the camera the way I want vertically. I've since mostly grown out of that and gone back to manual control.
