My parents get all hot and bothered about Halloween. I don't understand why it's an issue but I guess celebrating evil things is a bit odd. However, recently, I've realized that many Halloween characters are based on characters from literature.
You have Dracula by Bram Stoker, Frankenstein by Mary Shelly and witches inspired by a variety of sources. Halloween was once a Celtic festival which has become heavily commercialized, which is sad. I though maybe people can use Halloween as an opportunity to encourage children to read more? I am sure there are many children who would love to discover the inspiration behind their costume.
