Yeah I second that, would love to see someone defend that batshit crock of nonsense. One of the more obviously sinister religions in my opinion. Find the whole brainwashing/celebrity aspect intensely interesting as well.

Tough getting a real Scientologist to defend their scripture (trade secrets) as it is forbidden to do so.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

I went to a Quaker summer camp in Maine a couple years. It would be fascinating if somebody started something on that.

The Exclusive Brethren? Bit harsh to take a pop at them online if they can't reply.

Basically what Vorlon said. It's forbidden for them to talk about most of their teachings anyway. If you confront them, they just walk away or try accuse you of being a bigot. I've been following the batshit insane antics of Scientology for years.

Have you ever seen the documentary Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief?

We have an ex-Scientology employee (an alleged "suppressive person", which effectively is Scientology's version of excommunication), the lovely Kitty Galore. Sadly (or not so sadly), she was not exposed to the juicier aspects of that batshit crazy scam of a cult.

The fuckers have a recruiting center a couple of blocks from my office, I walk by there occasionally. Sometimes I think about going in for some meatspace trolling except that's one group who's radar I do not want to be on, given their history.

I believe it's still on Netflix. There's nothing new in there for someone that's dug into the sordid details of Scientology but for those that haven't, it's an eye-opener.

Didn't they take on the IRS and "win"?

I still found it quite interesting even though I have been digging into the details of Scientology for a while now. But I agree with you, there's nothing new in there.

Have we ever had a member (or even a mention) of the Oshos, aka Rajneeshees?

That was some seriously bat-shit crazy going down in Oregon back in the early eighties. I'd love to hear their rationalizations for that.
