False equivalency. There's a huge difference between a 5-star nad-rattler and doing a job. Perfect example: My father was a farmer, and quite a successful one. He loved farming, he had a real passion for it. I, on the other hand, would rather walk on my lips through a sewage treatment plant than go back to that life.

It isn't about garbage collection, though. Not really.
My point is that one cannot be the judge of another person's happiness (case in point: Robin Williams). Simply because someone is in a situation which to you would be anathema, the other person may not view it that way.
But back to the opening point: I don't feel insignificant at all, no matter how vast the universe(s). The knowledge that the particles that make up Boru also made up supernovae from billions of years ago doesn't make me feel small, it makes me feel connected.
And on a lesser scale, I feel significant to the people around me. There are people who love me and people who depend on me. This is significance of the most delightful sort (OK, so I'm not significant to my cats, but who is?).
