Islam is a Middle Eastern thing, like Judaism and Christianity.

I respect her decision and her reasons but:
1) If there is no proof for Islam, that should be sufficient reason to reject it. 2) If there is proof for Islam, then it's universal rules let alone particular rules at the time of revelation given the conditions of a particularly people and particular place should not be reasons to reject it. 3) She stopped believing in God when she stopped believing in Islam, Islam should definitely not be followed if you don't have knowledge and certainty that God exists. 4) It's interesting she didn't mention Suratal Fatiha. What that meant to her before or after Islam. I think ex-Muslims always recite this Surah with little thought, while the Quran cannot be really understood nor Islam without appreciating Suratal Fatiha. That is why we recite Suratal Fatiha in every Salah more then once, that is why it's been emphasized to be the basis of the book and the 7 counter parts of the Quran. Without understanding the foundational argument and clear signs of the book, and what is clear proofs of guidance per Quran, I think it becomes easy to err. |
