Hi, I'm the Godhead

RE: Hi, I'm the Godhead
I wish they'd call it something else. Pantheism and panentheism, when you're reading quickly, look like the same word. So When I first read your post you seemed to be contradicting yourself but then I read it again. Because I don't tend to label myself (I usually don't see any need), I'm not very familiar with some terminology. And I have a confession which is that right now I couldn't even say what panentheism actually means because all I did was look it up, thought "yeah that sums me up" and then I forgot what it meant. But I'll look it up again in a minute.

Right, I've taken a quick look at panentheism in wikipedia and here's what it basically says (the bits that I could understand anyway), with my thoughts :

God exists - Yes
It interpenetrates every part of nature - Not quite. God is nature
Timelessly extends beyond it aswell - Yes
"The whole is in god" - Yes
God is the eternal animating force behind the universe - Not quite. God is the universe
Some versions say that the universe is nothing more than the manifest part of god - Yes
God is greater than the universe - Yes

So I'm not sure if panentheism describes my view accurately, but it's the closest that I've come across.

In my view, god is everything, and is also simultaneously completely transcendental of everything. Including all contradictions and paradoxes. And also, including itself. So in that sense, in my view god is more omnipotent, and omni-everything else than even the traditional religions claim. I've kind of defined god into nothingness, and back again.

I go with what feels right to me, whether or not it fits with anyone else's views. Universal consciousness, yes, I believe in that. Reincarnation too. Personal deity no, as I believe that god is literally everything, therefore everyone, and I don't pray, I just have a moan at him from time to time. And I believe in sychronicity, in that events are conscious. Everything, rocks and chairs too, even the relationships between all things, is conscious. I don't think anything exists except consciousness.
Thanks for that GH. Isn't moaning praying? Isn't referring to him as 'him' personalising him? Big Grin

If communicating is praying, then I suppose I'm praying. And come to think of it I do often ask myself ("him") questions. The reason why I say him is because well, you have to call it something. I don't like calling it god when I'm addressing it (although I don't have a major problem with doing it) because it feels like I'm talking to something outside of myself. I don't like the idea of appealing to something outside of myself because I believe I can sort my own problems out. It's just that I believe I'm god, although I'm not objectively god, I'm "made of" (as in substance) god but that doesn't mean I consciously know everything "he" knows.

What forum have you been browsing?!?

Wait. Where am I again?

Can I at least hope for a new brand of crazy?

You have ME.

What more crazy could you possibly want?! Undecided
Oh, and hello, Godhead Smile

Good stuff GH Smile

One thing you're missing is human fallibility. How do you square that? We're made of god, yeah, we naturally pulling away.. do you think?

I get that a lot. But yes I'm currently human. I'm fallible. Think of it like this :

God is the only thing that exists. "He" manifests, and "creation" is that manifestation. The manifestation is fallible (although in the grand scheme of things nothing is fallible, everything is as it should be, it's just that in our experience we are fallible). Our subjective experience is that of thoughts, opinions (all subjective), beliefs, actions, reactions etc. We are god playing out every possibility, every angle, every expression. God is the experiencer, we are the experienced. As manifestations, we're stuck in that because we are subjective-god, hence our differences, hence these debates. It's all good in the hood. And in my belief system, you don't get to go to heaven but you also don't get to go to hell. It's win-win, with god enjoying the show and smoking a spliff. And I don't mind people insulting god or taking the piss, I think it's great, the more the merrier. He wouldn't be much of a god if he acted like a ninny every time someone called him a name. That's another difference between me and a religious person who takes it all so seriously. And churches, mosques, synagogues, they strike me as places where god would want to redecorate, get rid of those depressing crosses, and throw a party.

Hey, it's your fantasy. You can make it whatever you want it to be.

Don't expect many takers around here.
