Yes I assume so, but still if it was so frowned upon in each clmpany(if not specifically outlawed) how did you even find out, and what measures would the company take to keep it concealed?

I'm asking this out of both curiosity and doubt.

You either have to be really good friends with alcohol on hand, or everyone is pissed off at the company which is just about to go under. Those are the only two times in my career that I have ever found out someone else's wage.

I also once worked at a university. My contract was coming to an end and the university were legally obliged to find alternative employment for me. A position was advertised and I considered going for it but decided not to because the guy was a Muslim and I had only ever seen him interact with other men. I didn't want to waste my time applying. No one applied for the post. The head of the department came up to me and asked why I didn't apply and told me that it was going to be re-advertised. I put a lot of time and effort into applying. Eventually the Muslim gave the job to a man equally qualified even though the university were breaking the law by not finding me alternative employment if any was available.

This is the thing, we can't think in terms of outright sexism from entire countries or companies. Each is made up of individuals. The university above wasn't a sexist place, I actually want to work there again. It was just an individual. Was the Muslim man being consciously sexist or acting on an unconscious bias? I don't know. Can I prove an unconscious bias in this particular instance? No. No one can. Do they exist? Yes, we all have them. That has been demonstrated.

The most damning evidence comes from transgendered people who have worked one part of their career as one gender and the second half as another gender. Trans women find they get less respect, lower pay and fewer opportunities. That could be because they are trans you say, ignoring all the while that eventually many of them manage to hide their medical histories. But trans men find that the opposite happens for them. They get better pay, more respect and more opportunities.

When the other person has nothing else to say than that then they have obviously lost.

Know those religious nuts that think they had an experience with God and that is evidence for the existence of God?
What a bunch of numbnuts right?

Yeah what's needed is reproducible, falsifiable experiments using the scientific method right ...

Quote:In a randomized double-blind study (n = 127), science faculty from research-intensive universities rated the application materials of a student—who was randomly assigned either a male or female name—for a laboratory manager position. Faculty participants rated the male applicant as significantly more competent and hireable than the (identical) female applicant. These participants also selected a higher starting salary and offered more career mentoring to the male applicant.

Okay so a bunch of faculty participants were found to be sexists.
How exactly does this equate as evidence to pay gap discriminated against women?

If you want me to explain to you what these words mean, please just say ...
