Authoritarianism on the rise?

Authoritarianism on the rise?
On another page, once again I got accused of not reading this article. It isn't that people want to lose their freedoms, but the hardliners in politics fueled with unlimited money have brainwashed society. Now do I think America is in danger of of becoming an authoritarian society? No, at least not in the near future, but more GOP in politics will weaken our democracy.

It is just that one party has for decades sold fear and scares to this day the shit out of the public. No different how Islamic leaders scare their public and how Israel scares their public. When any group feels threatened they turn to whom they think will be the toughest in protecting the group. That is evolution, but unfortunately, at the same time greed wealth and power hungry politicians use propaganda to get votes.

There has been only ONE party and ONE class responsible for this trend. I have said before, the only thing dems can be blamed for is allowing our politicians to be held hostage to the GOP being forced to play their game. Trump did not start the fear mongering, he simply took TV marketing practices and took advantage of what the GOP was doing for decades and is throwing more gas on the fire.

Authoritarianism and the far-right seem to be rising more in Europe.

As Abraham Lincoln once said:  "Force is all-conquering, but its victories are short-lived."

I'll think of this when voting.

Authoritarianism on the rise?

Not unless I say so,
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

It is certainly on the rise in Poland. Nationalism and clericalism of new gov is something that brings shame to entire populace, or rather it should bring shame. Unfortunately some people are glad and what is saber rattling they consider independent politics and getting up from knees, not realizing that alienating other countries isn't a way to go.
The first revolt is against the supreme tyranny of theology, of the phantom of God. As long as we have a master in heaven, we will be slaves on earth.

It's because of all the bloody immigrants.

And the bloody neo-liberal policies that produce unemployment and poor living conditions (at least in southern Europe it is)

Don't you know that unemployment rates will increase around the world and in all segments of society?  All kinds of jobs will be automated and out-sourced to robots.  For instance, a Japanese country has automated a farm to grow 30,000 heads of lettuce a day without any human involvement.  The good  news is that lettuce will be cheap but the bad news is that only a handful of people will make any money off of it.  So who's going to buy consumer goods and services?  The world's economy will collapse and there will be a global revolution.
