By 14, my friends' parents all thought I was a really bad influence, some for teaching their kids that I thought their family's religious rules were stupid, some for when I took a zillion sex books out the library and taught the neighbourhood kids the parts of the birds and bees they didn't know. The pleasure stuff that has nothing to do with making babies necessarily. That was when I was 12 actually. I asked if there were books on sex at the local library (which was my favourite place to hang around when bored). The wonderful hippie librarians, who were always nice to me, asked whether I wanted fiction or nonfiction. I went home with everything from Masters and Johnson studies to sexual art history books. I studied them thoroughly, then told my friends. Everyone gathered into my backyard and we pored over the books in a way that would have made our teachers quite proud.
