I didn't realise Conor was so wobbly after the fight.

I guess we'll just have to wait to see if he stays retired.

Those statements could be related. My guess is that now Conor couldn't carry on with his "i am the king" act, he was completely bored with the promotional side of the rematch.

Conor's only words since the loss to Diaz were "we'll see next time". And that's all he can say. He can't add anything more.

The reason he wants the rematch is so that he can regain his confidence and circus act. If he doesn't regain it, then he's just another mundane fighter who has to talk honestly and humbly about things.

And that's a complete bore for him. And that's why he didn't want to do the press conference, because he has nothing to say.

Maybe Dana should have accepted Conor on his terms, and stuck a cardboard cut-out in the press conference. That would be funny. And it's not that crazy. If that's what it takes to get Conor back in the ring, Dana should do it.

Dana was banging on about how Conor "must" do the promotion. But that's not necessarily true. Conor sells himself.

There are rules, and there are consequences. And this might be a time when breaking the rules leads to better consequences.

Did you notice Conor's reply to the media in Iceland: "I'm retired, f**k interviews!".

Bingo! That's exactly the problem. He has nothing to say. He lost his circus act, and is now completely bored with the promotional side, unless he regains his mojo by defeating Diaz.

I think Conor might really be finished. He was a package deal. He can't be a mundane fighter. He's not a battler, he's a showman. So, the show might really be over.

Yep, UFC just got boring.

Best fighter in the UFC? Not by a long shot.
Best entertaining fighter in the UFC? Hell yes. No question about that.
Not gonna watch UFC 200.

Conor issues statement: "I cannot dance for you this time".

He's not retired, he just wants to focus on his preparation and minimise distractions.

Surely Dana will cut him some slack. Get that cardboard cut-out ready.

I didn't think that would last too long.

If he doesn't want to participate in the promotions that bring in the crowds both in person and on PPV they should put him on the undercard and pay him appropriately.
