Tacitus’s mentioning “Christus”

RE: Tacitus’s mentioning “Christus”
Views on Religion =/= Religion.

And I'll believe you're actually an atheist and not a wolf in sheep's clothing when you act like you have the capability for rational thought.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Wow, that's interesting. Actually this one event (in your view then) started Christianity!
For you to agree with this has more weight than any corrupted history of the bible passages.
It also removes about a million arguments against it. How many people state that a Jesus didn't actually exist? > Millions, possibly over 100 million or more. I like your commitment Wink
Are you for real?  My belief is not evidence of anything except my belief. My reasons for belief might be.  However, I don't believe the cuxifiction was the only event that started Christianity.  Paul's evangelism the disciples' evangelism, Jesus' preaching,  jewish history,  and many other things were involved in the creation of Christianity.

Let me ask you this do you believe that there was a Joseph Smith?   Was he lynched?

I am not being argumentative but stating that you will only 'believe' me to be atheist when I have rational thought is irrational.

A religious person who is even a fundamentalist extremist is ALSO rational.
When I try to teach others what is rationality, I state that:
Here is a rational statement > Superman can fly.
Here is another rational statement > believers believe.

ME:
I have already answered by agreeing to forum rules and signing up as such.
PLUS I already stated I honor the truth.

YOU:
Sarcastic, You're an atheist
You'll believe when I act rational!

You are only reinforcing my belief that you are a pretender.

I said started, (originated, or began) with the notion that Jesus Christ existed.
I have yet to confirm IF he existed, you are already there.

Have you any reason to believe Jesus did any of the things you mentioned?
If you are referencing the bible, are you aware of the many contradictions in it? Therefore not making the bible a reliable source.

Since you state that it wasn't merely Jesus Christ existence that started Christianity, you are making extreme claims.
At this stage I don't actually feel jesus preached anything at all. On the contrary, I feel the LACK of evidence point only to the possibility a Christus (or whatever the strange name) existed NOT that he also preached! That would be taking things to the extreme!

Now you are being silly.  If he did not preach, why would anyone remember him at all. He wasn't the only jew crucified.
The gospels and Paul's letters are good evidence he lived and preached.  They were however written too long after his death and by sources much too biased to be considered good evidence of the details.  Some parts of them such as the birth story are obviously false. Other parts unverifiable.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god.  If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.
