Order one of these and scavenge the mechanism for your project.  Less than $10 on Ebay.  Has a timer circuit in it too.  I think the slowest setting is a 1 second blast every 30 minutes.  There are a couple of faster settings.  Even the little cans of air freshener they sell for these last 2 months at the lowest setting.

Yes, but I'm not making something to freshen the air Wink

That's why I said;

"scavenge the mechanism"
 The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

Good idea, but I already have the motion sensor.

Glad to see you around Dar. Cant help much with with the question tough. Are you making a pinball machine or something? I restored one, I have some knowledge on the EM thinguies (name in english?) That actuate on flippers or bumpers. I dont think they called switches.

I'm making a 'Stay out of my room you bloody cats' device.  I already have a motion sensor that I modified but at the moment it's rigged up to a couple of hair dryers that blast air at them, and they are getting a bit blasé about that. It's also very noisy.

With the electromagnet I can rig up something that will spay some air freshener in their direction once they cross the threshold. They really hate air freshener and I doubt they will ever get used to it.

I've told them. All these rooms are yours except mine, attempt no incursion there. But they don't listen.

Why not just use your finger?

How the hell are you, man?

Yes, but I don't want to have my door shut.  Anyway, I like a challenge.
