I don't really understand how this works...how on earth are you people making your coffee that you could put milk in before the hot water? How does that work?
I don't think PMDD is controversial but I was wondering if it is controversial that the posts in this thread are making me suffer a severe case of PMSL?

I'd like to know what most atheists think about this because its a very controversial issue. I need empirical evidence that PMDD created the universe and PMDD sent her only daughter to suffer it on her behalf ....

Its a controversial issue for many reasons. Firstly, woman with this condition have argued that its a hormone problem therefore it shouldn't be listed in the DSM as a mental illness yet one of the prescribed treatments for it are antidepressants.
Secondly, it apparently fuels the stigma on woman being bitches during their periods and many feminists have a problem acknolging that woman can be bitchy during that time. As a result of both of these stigmas, woman are left undertreated and untreated as the system fails to acknowledge the condition and often writes them off as having mental illnesses. Atheists want proof of things, yet there is no real significant proof for the condition, just a bunch of woman saying they feel depressed or suicidal during their periods and some evidence of brain changes The theory is progesterone allergy/intolerance but it's not like there is any standard testing for it. The diagnosis is still clinical I guess I also just wonder why some woman refuse to acknowledge that pms or pmdd can make one bitchy. Periods are like a human rights issue now days. RE: pmdd

You know when I was diagnosed with pmdd at a young age, I was prescribed birth control for it. I don't know if that was really my problem, if so it seems to have cleared up on its own.
I don't know if women in general have a problem admitting menstrual induced bitchiness. I think yea, my hormones get fucked and I lose a ton of blood yet somehow gain 5-10 temporary lbs once a week every month, if I'm bitchy then it's justifiably bitchy. Probably women in general don't like being referred to as bitches for having a natural reaction to a natural bodily function that they have no control over. I feel like I'm missing your point...
But... what I found most interesting about this thread was that a severely disabling womans health/ mental health condition was mocked because of female/pms stigma.
Would we all have the same responses to a post on autism? I doubt it.
No, you were mocked because you posted a thread on a seemingly random topic and called it contraversial. Pmdd is not contraversial except maybe on tumblr.

Were you mocking me? I thought you were mocking the post. Athiest Forums> Science> life sciences. ( psychology/hormones/feminism) and its controversial as fuck sorry. But your comment is a pretty good example of why it is controversial so good job. |
