I tend to type my texts in standard English, although I can understand text speak perfectly fine.

People get mad at me because if they send me text speak I usually just start typing all my texts with just letter abbreviations.

In texts, as well as posts, I tend to leave off the last period. I don't know why. I still hate text speak mostly, though.

That's not to say that people who use text speak are necessarily stupid either, it could be laziness or intentionally dumbing down to fit in.

I wouldn't say it's about intelligence, it's about education. I've met very intelligent persons, who weren't able to read or write correctly. Reading or writing are aquired skills, not something you can explain away with intelligence.

I'm not even able to text. My fingers just aren't up to the task. At least not in a way that makes me say more than yes, no or OK.

I get these lovely texts from my grandma occasionally.

"Hello, Stephie, this is your granny. I hope you are doing well. Please call when you have the time. I love you, goodbye."

Adorbs! I love that she tells me who she is every time she texts me. Big Grin
