Nudity, Is It Sexist In This Forum?

RE: Nudity, Is It Sexist In This Forum?
I think it's fair what the OP is saying, despite what the laws say. Glad it'll be discussed among the staff. Any form of inequality between the sexes should at least be seriously considered.

No woman's freedoms are being infringed upon, and the men aren't given a pass. That is the site following the laws as they are applied. The only thing of substance you have here is that you want men to be unable to be topless, too, which is actually quite petty. What would you(or would we, for that matter) gain from that other than the smug sense you would feel for scoring a less than meaningless win for equality on an Internet forum?

There are real problems in this world, and this isn't one of them.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

While I agree that there are certainly more important issues in the world, that doesn't mean we can't take this issue into consideration.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

If it'll help things, I promise I'll never post topless pics. Big Grin

No, I want the rules to be applied equally. Fair... yes.

I agree that rules in our society regarding breasts are unequal and unfair and most likely due to cultural rather than a natural viewpoint around breasts.

For instance my breasts as man mean that even though I have a fairly attractive body the likelyhood of me being paid money or being given free things for exposing my breasts is very low in comparison to that of a woman with an equally attractive body.

The plus side of my breasts having a lower sexual market value than the average looking females breasts is that my breasts attract less attention in the eyes of the law, no one cares to what degree I expose them on a warm day and so on.

I think because of the way sexual market value works in most culture is that women's breasts are high in sexual demand and will therefore have more legal restrictions related to them.
I think that although you're correct that people do find men's breasts attractive aswell, I think it's more prevalent in sexual selection in humans for men to select women with full perky breasts which indicate fertility whereas a mans breasts don't reflect his sexual desirability to that same extent.

These are my thoughts about the topic at the moment anyway, I think you've put forward a pretty good topic here though and it deserves some more thought.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

When I see the FFrF make a challenge to our US government being used to advertise religion, atheist yell "preferential treatment" "breach of the separation of church and state" and when the religious state, "pick your battles, it's just a little sign, just a little break of the constitution, just a little statue, a nativity" everyone gets their hackles up. It just one small slight, it's not important, there are other things more important in this world.

Yes, there are but many little things make bigger issues and also set a precedence for future behaviors. We have seen this in history and now in many ways. Is it wrong to say recognize this one slight and make it right? Is it not beneficial to change the small wrongs before they add up to be big ones? Does equality really happen if we ignore all the small ways in which we are not equal?

It seems to me if you say it doesn't matter then it won't matter to you if it's corrected either.

Can we just ban feminists from the forum? There would be far less complaining about pointless issues.

There's two ways it could be corrected.

1) Either allow pictures of topless women of all ages to be posted anywhere in the forum potentially allowing people to break actual laws beyond forum rules and potentially allowing what would be classed as child pornography onto the forums.

2) Ban all pictures of any breasts.  Practically speaking there would be no point to this whatsoever.
