Where The Hell is C/L Lately?

This may surprise a lot of you, but EP has a point there. This place can be pretty hostile to minority opinions and I or one wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of an AF dogpile.
I'm not saying everyone does this - far from it - but the phenomenon exists nonetheless. 
Seems impractical to set up a roster for Same Old Shit Theist Refutation Duty so only one person at a time does the arguing.

I am, admittedly, extremely arrogant and think myself very intelligent. Maybe it's a delusion. Anyway, sometimes I see people posting stuff here, and it's just beyond cringing with me, it actually hurts me at some level that people can be so complacently stupid(I'm sorry, I'm just describing it now). But then again, it's entirely possible and maybe even likely that this is something my mind makes up on its own just to hold up the illusion that I'm smarter than anyone else. Of course, that particular theory fails somewhat when we consider the fact that I definitely do not think I'm smarter than everyone else. And intelligence is a very ambiguous thing. But that's enough about me. It is true that there's a certain kind of group thinking here that is very hard to break through. But then, maybe that's the case with any other group and we're just noticing it more here because of the higher expectations that necessarily come with people like us. Yes, atheists are, strictly going by the definition, not necessarily alike, but we all know that this is not really the case 100% in real life, and I hope anyone reading this can understand what I'm getting at here without me spelling it out. Anyway, even if there is such a thing as a certain group mentality at work here, and even if it is bad, we're still talking about people. If anyone truly has a point, one that is controversial but nonetheless legitimate, all that they need is the mental fortitude to convey it successfully. If they fail, that is on them, not on anyone else. Uh, just writing this was kind of therapeutic. Choosing to post it afterwards was more of a random choice, than anything. 
I think much of it boils down to how one expresses the unpopular view. Not to say it still won't happen, what could be a small disagreement between a couple of members can quickly draw the sharks if one of them is seen acting as a twat ... at that point, emotions even in the readership can become magnified.

There aren't too many nice ways of expressing outrage another priest has ejaculated in the rectum of a child. The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.
