Hello,
I was wondering if anyone could/would help me find a paper(document/report) I once read online many years ago. I don't recall the author at all, but the title was something along the lines of 'Religion Detoxification', or 'Religious Detox', 'The Detoxification of Religion' etc...those primary words. I suppose it was a few dozen pages long (again, online), I don't think I got past the first 15 or 20 so pages.
What I do remember from the reading is that the author asked the reader to 'empty' our minds of all things we are aware of in today's world. No artificial light, machines, structures of any type, fabricated material pieces, technologies, medicine or structured communities. He (I think the author was a he) wanted to start our story at the caveman days, therefore, no knowledge or our physical surroundings, no knowledge of where water comes from (melting ice and the oceanic cycles), no comprehension of the enormity of the planet, the purpose of trees or birds. Wind is a mystery, communication with other near homo-sapiens is at best a series of arm signals, signs of physical domination and vocal sounds. The changing of night and day is a scary system of sequences with no known cause. Survival and feeding ourselves is all one knows..if we even survive that. No religion.
As the story goes, the author takes us slowly into possible small reasoning's for events that come to pass,...the rise and fall of the moon and sun, birth and death. He goes on to describe possible accounts for why our ancestors did what they did, and what possibly lead to the easier explanation that those which are not understood, must be the will of a deity.
If anyone thinks this sounds like something they have seen or know where I can find it, please let me know and perhaps it too can be enjoyed by many others!
Thanks!
p.s. Hello Pastafarians !!
