Not new. I went to Cambodia in 2008 and the locals were impressed that I'd never been shot. I advised them that I had been shot, in Cambodia, c. 1972. They were not surprised about that.

Might want to avoid areas in dispute between the Crips and Bloods too . . .

The Crips and the Bloods seem to know who each other is with a fair degree of certainty, though.
