The Genius Of Buddy Holly
I've really got into Buddy Holly recently (I love the energy of his music!), he was also a major influence on the John Lennon, The Beatles and Rock N' Roll, just wanted to share some of his stuff:

Buddy Holly was a genius. Such a shame he and Ritchie Valens died in that plane crash.

Judging by the career trajectories, he probably could have made even greater music, but then a few years later, burned out. With all due respect, I love what Buddy Holly left for us.

Thank you for taking the trouble. I hadn't seen the English clip and think its the best of the lot.

Always loved Buddy Holly.

I was in pig heaven when they had a special radio programme to commemorate the 10th anniversary of his death---in 1969.

The guy has been dead for 51 years. Suddenly I feel old.

Recently I rediscovered an old female rocker and discovered one I have never heard here,at all: Wanda Jackson,Queen of Rockabilly, and Janis Martin 'The Female Elvis"

PS Buddy and the girls look so elegant. (or anal retentive, depending on your point off view) Seems incongruous with the music. I've always liked the
'broken voice' style of female,singers.

I also found this video of the backstage of a high school concert in 1955 with Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Carl Perkins & Johnny Cash all together! What are the chances? Big Grin

Great clip. I never cease to be amazed at what you can find on Youtube.--Cash doing Elvis is also worth watching.

There's a rare recording of a jam session around, made at Sun Records. It has Elvis,Cash, Orbison and I think Jerry Lee Lewis.

PS: I have a CD of Carl Perkins' early stuff which is a lot of fun .I pick up a lot of old stuff (from the 1920's onwards) from cheap bins in variety stores..You just need to make sure they are original recordings and not covers or live performances from late in the person's career.

For those of you who like John Lennon as well I combined a few versions of Buddy's recording with John Lennon's to create a duet Big Grin
