I've not actually seen the film so I can't truly judge it, but I've heard the worst American remake is of the wicked man.
And that's another one I think where they changed the gender of some of the characters to being female.
I really liked the original, I've got no plans to ever waste time watching the remake.
I just realised my auto correct thing on my phone put wicked man instead of wicker, I left it too long to edit the mistake.
Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.
Impersonation is treason.

*One exception. Ongoing stories (cough Harry Potter cough) should maintain gender/ethnicity identity. Making Hermoine Granger black in the latest production is ludicrous. Much the same as making Lee Jordan Caucasian or the Patil sisters Chinese would be.
Why? What does the stage play have to do with the movies? They're not the same "canon". There must be numerous theatrical adaptations of Harry Potter around the globe - guess what - some of them are in countries where most people are black or some other "inappropriate" race. Should all of those productions be looking for white actors, because JK Rowling is still writing books? Or perhaps they're not allowed to run? That's ridiculous. Not to mention that most of the stage actors are waaaaay older than the characters even in the latest movies. So what do you care about one actor in one play?
I seriously can't explain the motivation behind this exception of yours... Well - not in any particularly flattering way...
I figured someone would be stupid enough to think my comment is about race and not continuity. You've pegged me as a bigot and nothing I say will change your mind. Whatever...

I am sick to death of Spiderman origin films and if I see one more take on pride and fucking prejudice I may explode.

Yeah, the Wicker Man remake was awful. And while I'm on the subject of terrible remakes starring Nicholas Cage, the American re-telling of Wings of Desire was nothing short of criminal. Everyone involved in that travesty should have been condemned to making infomercials for the rest of their careers.

What continuity? Why would creators of a play based on a book have to be constricted by the casting of the movies? None of the other actors look like the ones in the movies. And it's theater - people KNOW those people are actors presenting a story.
Of course it's about race - some people can't look past it, even if it's essentially irrelevant, as in the case of Harry Potter play.

Nice dodge. Whatever.

A vacuous ad hominem. Well played.
What I like or don't like doesn't enter into this. My point still stands.

I would love to see a remake of the Warriors, but not in the way they were proposing. I want it to be at least somewhat similar to the original.

I see. Classy, as usual. So, did you join this thread specifically and exclusively to express your butt-hurt?
