Get to know your staff [UPDATED]
#71
RE: Get to know your staff
What is involved in the selection process?

Why do you think you were asked to be on staff?

Why did you agree to be on staff?

What would you find tolerable or intolerable that other staff may not?

Okay, here's a question for you:

Do you miss being a staff member?

Are there ever serious conflicts between members of Staff?  As a f'rinstance, has a Member ever left or threatened to leave Staff when a decision (say, about banning this or that poster) didn't go their way? Not asking anyone to name names.

To my recollection nobody has left because of a decision made, but quite often we disagree on a load of topics, from bans to moderation decisions to even forum layout.

Often we'll go on pages debating a report or decision if there's some ambiguity. It's one of the most liberally moderated forums I've ever been on and I like it like that. We all seem to get on pretty good, though, and historically that's been the case even when there's been conflicting personalities on the staff.

I feel like we're supposed to answer the questions in the videos, no? Tongue
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Yes. It was a hard decision to leave, but it stands on reason. With the plus that it didn't affected the work done ruling this rowdy bunch of cats.

Alex is a really cool guy so take advantage the questions don't need to be about being a mod.

Alex, how is your life so cool sounding?

Where is the strangest place that you have performed staff duties? (i.e. tub, toilet, .........)

What is the strangest duty you have performed as staff?

On the train on the way home when we were inundated with spammers and I was the only one on (and I accidentally banned forum bot!)

Autopsy on inflatable Sally after CD left staff.  She popped.
