57 channels and nothing on

Never heard of that song. But I have heard of and seen "Video killed the radio star", since we're talking about media.
Coupled with the recent 'Star Trek' thread. Why, why WHY is it that whenever I decided to watch television, I always come across the original 'Star Trek' and - for some reason - it's always the one with the miners and that lumpy rock monster?

To give you an impression of how bad it is, I envy you. I would love to come across some Star Trek episodes instead of some redneck shitfaces playing at real life. Or shitty contests that make you wish for some fart competitions.
I'm a little too young to have experienced that song in its day, but when we first got cable oh so many years ago, my parents were constantly referencing it.

I too live without TV, six years ... Six good years.
If I want news, I go online, if I want entertainment I watch a music or comedy concert, and if I want football I go to Angel's Roadhouse and watch it there.
While I will agree that in general, television (and entertainment in general) has become mostly shit, there are still a few good programs on (or on recently). They all seem to be British (Copper, Orphan Black), Canadian (Regenesis, Battlestar Galactica) or Australian (Wentworth) though.
American TV seems to be nothing but (un)reality shows, bad sitcoms and even worse cop/hospital dramas.

I haven't watched actual TV in quite a few years as well. Last time I watched regularly, must've been when I was so young I was watching cartoons.
