Stages of grief for the faithful when science discovers something contrary to their beliefs:
1. SHOCK: "Blasphemer!"
2. ANGER: "Burn the blasphemer at the stake!"
3. DENIAL: "We won't teach such blasphemy in the schools!"
4. BARGAINING: "Look, we have an alternate theory and we'd like to teach the controversy."
5. WHINING: "We're being persecuted because we can't teach the controversy."
6. ACCEPTANCE: "Sure the earth is round. Our scripture said so all along. If you just read this passage wrenched out of context and look at it with the most obtuse interpretation. This is proof that our sacred scripture really was penned by God. All those old inquisitors of past centuries missed the obvious when they read..."
