Most of all they didn't have radar. German ships had. At the start of the war even more advanced than the allies. But the Italians and the Japanese didn't. The largest navy in the world doesn't help very much if you don't know where the enemy is.

Actually they weren't. When I was your age I had the same opinion, since they always fought us. But now I know that their population never was eager to fight. So they may have been the more reasonable people. Possibly the most reasonable people in the world wars.

I didn't mean every single Italian, hence the smiley at the end. It was semi-lighthearted.

We've had our fair share of assholes during wars as well.
