What about a thread with a video and the words: "add your own discussion; think of this as critical thinking time."

It seems like laziness to me. I don't care for that type of thread. I'm not sure about it on a rules point though. I think if you're going to tell people to add their own discussion you should do so as well in the op.

For me, it kind of makes you try to assume what the OP is thinking in posting the thread. What may be obvious to him may completely fly over the respondent's head.

And the request for a comment or 2 on something  a member wants the rest of us to look at isn't unreasonable.  I find it especially helpful to see comments that confirm the poster has in fact looked at whatever the link is, and that their computer still works after doing so.
