Oh that went perfectly fine. They got me good and high and finished it in like 30 minutes. But my doc called right after and said my kidney function was so bad I needed to start dialysis immediately. Being in the hospital is the real shitty part, especially because I had to be admitted through the ER. Fuck the ER. They put me in a different hallway every once and a while for 12 hours before I finally got a room haha

OK, well good and bad. Yep, ER sucks for non ER shit.

Do you have a dialysis center available, separate from the hospital? Have they talked about a schedule yet?

Keep being strong, my friend.

I'm impressed how strong you guys are.

I can't even give up sugary drinks...

Which is more serious than you think.

Seen as the acid in those drinks can give permanent erosive damage on your teeth.

I learned the hard way when my dentist told me the erosion was so bad that it was like the average 70 year old's and I had to quit the fizzy drinks and fruit juice or I''d start losing parts of my teeth.

So yeah... I seriously hope you're able to cut down. I saw on another thread you drank 2.5 litres a day Undecided

The worst part? I can't afford a dentist.

Fuck I need a cleaning, I don't really drink the sugary stuff... I can see my enamel go as it is... Have not been to a dentist and 8 years. Bad I know... I have no major problems though. Now in my 30's I should prob jump on that.

It's not the sugar that wears the enamel though. It's the acid Sad

I've stopped having vinegar on my fish and chips for the same reason. And vinegar is hardly sugary, lol.

Huge Study Links a Specific Gene to Appetite for Alcohol

reviewing Schumann G et al. Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A 2016 Dec 13.

A neuroendocrine loop might be responsible for drinking behavior.

Gene variants have been linked to the degree of appetite for alcohol. In a new study, multi-institutional investigators used genetic data and information about drinking history from more than 105,000 people of European ancestry to identify a new gene and a particular neuroendocrine axis as contributors to alcohol appetite.
In a human study, researchers found that the gene (KLB) that produces the protein β-Klotho is associated with alcohol intake. An intact KLB gene protects against excessive alcohol intake, but when the gene is knocked out in brains of mice, the mice have an increased appetite for alcohol. We know that β-Klotho forms part of a brain receptor for a hormone made by the liver, fibroblast growth factor (FGF)-21. Alcohol induces the liver to make FGF21, and higher blood levels of FGF21 diminish the appetite for alcohol in normal mice ― but not in mice in which the KLB gene has been knocked out. Presumably, the absence of β-Klotho in the brains of KLB knockout mice disrupts a neuroendocrine loop that is important in controlling appetite for alcohol.

COMMENT
Both the KLB gene and the newly discovered neuroendocrine circuit linking the brain and liver are important in regulating appetite for alcohol in mice, and KLB is linked strongly to alcohol intake in humans. This discovery might lead to identification of people at risk for alcohol abuse and to medications that help control the appetite for alcohol.

Damn came to grips I'm an alcoholic the last few days, and had a crazy 3 week bender, lost the girl I was seeing due to drunken behavior. Spending way to much time at the bar along with large sums of money, and ignoring everything else resulting in lots of catch up. I'm not drinking tonight, and made the decision to not drink this week. It will be a first. Last time I didn't have a drink was probably a year ago. I've probably been drinking every day, for about 12 years. Feel like I've lost out on life a lot due to being intoxicated and fell behind on my priorities. Realized I've become who I don't want to identify as, someone who always needs to be drinking. Going to cleanse for a while, and then really become determined to take days off from drinking. Right now it really seems strange that I'm not drinking, because it has become who I am, but I'm trying to change who I am. For me it's about changing my lifestyle, and everything that goes along with that and doesn't revolve around drinking.

Something I've been listening to recently is a youtube channel called mulligan brothers, with motivational and inspirational themes.

Check this one out. It will be helpful especially to those of us with an addiction.

This one just came out the other day. I really like the channel.

Your going through what I went through a couple years ago. It can be a rough ride, but it's worth it. My advice, find something to occupy your time like a hobby, get really into it, or more then one. Redefine who you are as a person.
