I've never understood why they call it "abuse" or "molestation" - It's like a way of trying to lessen the fact that these sick fucks raped children.

It's because it's a church. If it was just 2 normal citizens I'm sure they would have put raped but something at least worse then abuse. Churches always seem to get away with this stuff? Why go easy on a priest they are no "better" than a janitor in my book. They are sick fucks who used their position and their "god" to fuck children, "Don't tell your mommy or the Devil will get you" Way to go, you not only raped the kid, but manipulated them in the process.
"...the illegality of cannabis is outrageous, an impediment to full utilization of a drug which helps produce the serenity and insight, sensitivity and fellowship so desperately needed in this increasingly mad and dangerous world." - Carl Sagan Quote:Why go easy on a priest they are no "better" than a janitor in my book. They are no where near as useful as a janitor.
Nor as ethically respectable - I seriously doubt that given the opportunity of going through the lockers of school children that a Janitor would be more inclined to partake in the invasion of privacy as a priest would.

It has to be someone so horrifically evil as to use senseless violence for financial gain or enjoyment. I don't accept violence, but will apply it in self defense of my self, friends and family. In self-defense of myself, friends or family, I think I would be capable of a lot. RE: I don't like this headline....

Happily, I think those days are pretty much gone. It's worth noting a lot of those crimes go back decades. However, I have little doubt the problem remains endemic. I believe There needs to be radical changes at an institutional level for things to really improve. ANYONE,clergy and others, caught harming a child; automatic police involvement.Period. THAT was the responsibility of the churches all along. That they failed so miserably,is despicable.Perhaps the one good thing to emerge from all the sewerage is ever more people are coming to realise the depth of corruption and irrelevance of of organised religion.. Today people are more aware and less tolerant of those arsewipes. Plus, victims are more willing to come forward. There seems to be also a lot less of blaming the victim and minimising the the crimes. (except from the Churches of course) There is also some support for victims where there was none. Here in my city two former Catholic priests have been gaoled this year.I hope they make lots of new intimate friends in gaol and that one of the friendships will be fatal.
I hate this part even more:
Quote:The commission also stressed that sexual abuse happened within all religions and organisations. I'm sure there are more organisations that indeed have sexual abuse scandals, but they are usually not the ones making ridiculous demands on sexuality from its followers and clergy (celibacy, no sex before marriage, no homosexuality). Furthermore, Belgium is not a large country, and to have at least 300 reported cases is nothing but astonishing.
