No ET! Ever?

RE: No ET! Ever?
Whether or not life on other planets exist is irrelevant to our religious beliefs. Of course, our beliefs can influence our opinion on the issue, but at the end of the day it doesn't change anything. We can still believe in God, and we can still believe Jesus was the son of God who died for us, regardless of whether aliens exist or not. Belief or disbelief in extraterrestrial life doesn't effect that one way or the other, and so it is irrelevant

Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Ah, yes. You will believe what you want to believe irrespective of what evidence says about what is actually likely to be true. And we thought you were maybe ever so slightly less brain dead than GC.

What are you referring to specifically?

What you said about facts being irrelevant to your belief, and that should evidence come to light that humanity is utterly mundane and comparable life is ubiquitous, you would still cling to the fantasy that has making you special as its chief selling point.

It seems you misunderstood me. What I meant was that the existence or non existence of alien life is not an issue of theology.

Serious q.

Can anyone tell me if any of the divine texts specifically say that we earthlings are exclusive to God?
I will hazard a guess and say no. ( simply because they weren't aware of these other possibilities back then.)

Then can a theist tell me why people say that humans are God's ONLY children.

That's not even cherry picking, that's just making stuff up, isn't it?
Or is it implied?

Nothing in the Bible says that aliens can't exist. Of course, I'm sure if someone really wanted to they could pick out a particular text in there and claim it means we are alone in the universe.

Well it certainly doesn't dismiss aliens but of God really created alien sinners too, the Bible is strangely silent about the alien Jesusy savior

The Bible doesn't specifically state there is no life on other planets. People of that time wouldn't have understood all the lights in the night sky were stars excluding the moon as far as they knew. The reason many Christians including myself believe there is no life (intelligent) on other planets is because the fall of Adam and Eve corrupted the entire creation. We do not believe God would have allowed the on other worlds to be punished and not know why. Also Christ came to give His life for mankind (created man of earth), nothing is said His life, death and resurrection was for anything other than the people on this planet. Let me say this the Christian community I know doesn't spend much time wondering about this because our mission is with people here on earth. Hope that answers your question.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

You are basically stating that god cannot learn from his mistakes. Understood.
