Human First: A Campaign To Save A Life

Human First: A Campaign To Save A Life
Hello fellow Atheist Forums members,

I know I haven't been around here much lately (SUPER busy with school this semester -- thank goodness for Spring Break next week!) but I have a very important announcement to make.  It is also one in which I am asking for your support, if possible.

Imagine that you are walking through your neighborhood one day and come across a house that has smoke wafting out of a window. Imagine that in minutes the house will be ablaze and worse, you hear the cries of a little girl or boy trapped inside. Aside from calling 911, imagine that you see a safe path inside the house and know that only you can save this child's life, and that every minute wasted is another nail in the coffin for that poor, helpless, child.

You CAN save that child. According to UNICEF (see links at the bottom), "Malaria kills one child every 30 seconds" and "over one million people die from malaria each year, mostly children under five years of age."

I am very excited to announce HUMAN FIRST, an online fundraising campaign that is seeking to raise funds for AMF, the AGAINST MALARIA FOUNDATION. Please read on if you wish to help save a life, or visit the HUMAN FIRST page at https://www.AgainstMalaria.com/humanfirst

The general goal of Human First is to promote the humanistic values that we all share -- as creatures who equally hope, dream, suffer, partake of bliss or misery -- and the first campaign that we are waging is against the vicious spread of malaria. All of the money is donated directly to AMF for the distribution of long-lasting insecticide-treated bed nets (LLIN). The specific goal of Human First is to raise $3,500 in 6 months. Givewell, in their cost-effectiveness analysis of AMF (which they rate as one of the top organizations in that regards), estimates that "approximately $3,500 in donations to AMF will save the life of one child under the age of 5."

Anything that you are able to contribute -- from $5 to $500 -- over the next six months will be greatly appreciated. In a sense, it will be as if you walked into that burning house and saved the child. Your donation will make that happen, for only because of your help will it be possible to save that life. Let's do this.

Let's rescue a child.

Mods, I am also requesting -- should The Atheist Forums agree --that this thread be pinned at the top to maintain its relevancy over the coming months.

Thank you.
