That's only because Hillary assumed the people she campaigned to lead actually possessed such qualities as to be worth leading, and not just an ignorant gullible rabble from which no collective judgement can be expected, and worthy only to be humored, scared, browbeaten, and told tall tales to as might be expedient for the moment

The fundamental difference between the democratic world view and republican world view is the democrats posits that the people are generally good, capable of sound judgement and deserve better, where as the republicans believe the people are fodder fit only to give what the those inherited their wealth can take from them.

We know there is ultimately little to nothing in the republican world view for most thinking people who are not born rich.  We now know the fundamental assumption of the democratic world view is unsound.

The democratic base knows we need change. Hell many of the republican base do too. That's why they latched on the the guy talking about changing the system, rather than the status quo candidate. It's just that the person spouting about change was on the republican side, and unfortunately a liar. The one guy on the democratic side who talked about change, and meant it, was shut down by the DNC. People in general have good ideas about what they want. It's just that by the time the general election came around, their choices were between a woman who promised little to no change, and a liar. 

This isn't the voter's fault. Not sure why anyone would claim it is.

I don't really have a rebuttal for that. The DNC wasn't exactly fighting for clean elections either, given how they screwed Bernie.
