If you don't know what biggest loser is, I think it's an idea people got from game shows, but a lot of workplaces and families do it as a way to encourage each other to lose weight. I'm not *exactly* sure how they work, but I would look into it if enough people were interested here. If you feel like trying to lose some weight/get fit/maintain your current fitness level with the help and support AF members, chime in. If enough people want to, I'll get it started.

Edit: A lot of people have fitness goals that don't include losing weight. I think we can all find a way to be included and make it sort of a mixed bag.

Boy I could have used this even more in 2014.  I was at 240 pounds on new years day of 2015, and I'm just about 6 feet (though there has been some shrinkage).  I got down to about 200 by the end of 2015 by taking a healthy eating class through Kaiser (my medical provider).  I took the class again at the start of this year and got down to about 187.  Since it ended I've pretty much been drifting just looking to maintain and hopefully lose some more weight eventually.  My tentative target weight is 175 pounds, so 12 more to go.  But I can't be sure 175 is really right for me.  I mean, I was 165 and very thin in high school.  So maybe 180 would be healthier.  Not sure.  But 175 remains the target unless I get to another weight I feel good about.

More important goals for me would be to get my hyper extended knee completely healed with strength and full range of motion.  If I can work on my core strength too that would be great.  I no longer run but it would be good to find something aerobic I can do, maybe a reclined bike.

My mantra while losing the weight was "getting light on my feet".  I used to be.  I'm getting there.  So yeah, count me in.

You must have a lot of muscle! To me 80kg is 7 kg higher than the most I've ever weighed... and that was back when I was moderately overweight when I was 17.... I'm currently somewhere between 57 and 67 kg (I regularly go up and down between that weight and I haven't weighed myself in years).

The lightest I've been as an adult was 52 kg when I was 22.

That's what I'd call underweight but... you sound very muscular. I'm mostly fat and bones besides the obvious fact that we all have muscles. But the only exercise I get is the two Ws (walking and wanking) so....

I'm 5'7 if BMI is relevant here.

Me too. And my fingers never get tired no matter how much I use them and how quickly I tap with them non-stop.

You're slightly taller, slightly heavier and slightly more muscular than me I reckon.

But otherwise about the same height/weight/fat, hehe.

I've given up my weekend treat of KFC for a couple of weeks and gave up caffine altogether which was way easier than I thought it would be actually.

But I have to say even though I've been going crazy at the gym my goals are pretty shallow, I just want to look slightly more toned to be ready for summer.  My body is pretty stubborn when it comes to weight and being toned anyway.  I always tend to look more toned and fit than the average man but not really in the realm of getting girls gasping when I take my top off.

I think the thread's an amazing idea but all I really have for my goals is to visit the gym at least three times a week and to stay off the caffine and KFC.  Although I imagine I'll be eating some kind of bad food this weekend because I'm supposed to be taking someone out to go see a film and get some food and I won't be eating salad.

Well, feel free to keep yourself accountable to those goals with us come April.

I want to give us all something to work for besides fitness. If that were enough incentive, we'd be doing it already. I could do an AF-related item like a mug or a T-shirt or a fitness-related item, such as a funny fitness T-shirt or yoga mat.

I think a more appropriate prize would be bacon cheesecake with beef gravy.

I'm pretty big into eating anything, but that even sounds gross to me.

I want to do it.

I'm 110kg right now, and I think I can lose about 20kg pretty comfortably if I work hard from now until next fall. I don't care about winning or being "biggest loser," but it will be nice to have some mutual support.

Yeah, it's only a contest for play. I can't really win, since it would be stupid for me to gift myself, but I plan on using the motivation and support here to drop a few pounds.

So... we're starting this thing in April, is that it?
Cause.... biking to work is a daily thing, for me.
Today's minimum gear was the third.... 3/8.... 5 to go!

Yes, I think April 1 will give people enough time to nail down a goal, prep for it, etc. CD can't join us for a few weeks, so it makes sense to wait for him. However, you should use this thread to get started on your goals, by all means. I'll create an official one in a few weeks.

Shell, I can work on my immediate goal (walking without assistance) now, I just can't start getting serious about weight loss. No reason to wait on my account. I'm actually improving faster than I thought I would.
