Astral projection

RE: Astral projection
Hmm, well ass based projections are quite common, we do have a few experts on the subject here.

But if you mean something like that in Dr Strange, then it isn't possible without terrible cgi effects. You can however with enough practice, hone your senses enough to gather information from your environment which at first glance might seem impossible. For example there are many blind people who can determine the structure of a room, number of people present there as well as their genders and age group based on subtle sounds, smells and other sensory information which we normally ignore. These kind of information gathering seems to also happen during nde and other out of body experiences. Simply put, it's the brain being able to focus and process certain information which we tend to ignore in our daily lives.

I didn't. I stressed the impossibility of the deed. Your judgment of my post is, of course, irrelevant. So fuck off.

Are you gonna take that Orochi? Here, I'll hold your drink for ya. ;-)

To be honest, I tried to do astral projection but I failed. I heard that some people can do it. What's your opinion about this ?

Astral projections and NDEs are pretty much the same thing. Sam Parnia a NDE true believer gave us conclusive proof they don't exist. Therefore by a process of elimination astral projection is probably (at 99.99999999% confidence) halucinatory too.

Thanks for answers Smile
Calm down people, there's no reason for strife. I was just curious to hear a different opinion.

Bos, I've long offered the Carl Sagan test for this one (so far, no takers):  I have placed a copy of a well-known book here on my desk.  The title of the book is clearly printed on the cover.  Astral projecters are invited to zip round here, read the title, return to their bodies and tell me the title of the book.

How, exactly, would one investigate metaphysics?

There are a couple of problems with your test.

First it assumes one can astrally project at will, the second assumes astral projection somehow makes you clairvoyant.

It also allows one to kibitz at their own emergency surgery.

But it's a silent invisible dragon

Second it's a method (not assumption) built on what people who astro project claim they can do. See stuff while ascended. And yes there are supposed rituals that people frequently use the get consistent results.

I'm getting tired of people discarding my hallucinations as though they're trivial. Tongue

I've had OBE's and played with astral projection and stuff like that.  What a trip!  Wayyyyyyyyy more fun and interesting than normal life.

AP and lucid dreaming are basically two peas in the same pod. Yes they are real. Do I believe you are actually leaving your body and entering a "spiritual plane?" No, that's silly. But yes it is very possible to have dreams where you leave your body and walk around your house and stuff. It's actually pretty interesting the things you can do during lucid dreams and I can recommend you guys to some reading materials if anyone is interested.
“Love is the only bow on Life’s dark cloud. It is the morning and the evening star. It shines upon the babe, and sheds its radiance on the quiet tomb. It is the mother of art, inspirer of poet, patriot and philosopher.

It is the air and light of every heart – builder of every home, kindler of every fire on every hearth. It was the first to dream of immortality. It fills the world with melody – for music is the voice of love.

Love is the magician, the enchanter, that changes worthless things to Joy, and makes royal kings and queens of common clay. It is the perfume of that wondrous flower, the heart, and without that sacred passion, that divine swoon, we are less than beasts; but with it, earth is heaven, and we are gods.” - Robert. G. Ingersoll

Yeah, my understanding is that in lucid dreaming, you hit an actual sleep state first, then use a device to realize you're dreaming, whereas in AP, you go directly to that state without surrendering yourself to sleep first.
