When I look at the long-time theists on AF, I see only very well-educated, intelligent, and overall thoughtful contributors who are remarkably patient despite all the insults they endure. I also think in the US there are regional differences that get confused with religious ones. For example the South truly gets a bad rap. Not for a second do I think people below the Mason-Dixon line are anything like their detractors say. They just do things a little differently.

For a long time I collected Chick comics just because they were so appalling. I don't believe they are representative of what the vast majority of Christians believe.

Not a true scots man

Considering how widely these things are distributed I think these might be more wide spread then your giving them credit especially in mega church crowd

um . .

Christians or True Christians®

Liberals and conservatives both truly believe they got it right. I could care less what religion one wants to argue.

It still amounts to the follower, "I got it right'. Western progressives use the same books of ANY religion, to justify compassion and inclusion. I would argue to my fellow liberals that you do not take your holy writings literally word for word like a conservative Muslim or conservative Christian or conservative Jew.

Both conservatives and liberals use the same core books to justify sell of inclusion and sell of fear of outsiders. The further back in time you go in all of those religions the more intolerant of outsiders you see the majority behaving.

I am glad liberal theists don't act on every verse as literal, if humans didn't cherry pick we would still be as barbaric and the west never would have progressed.

There are some sites on the internet that charge Jack Chick with heresy. For instance:

Jack Chick plainly teaches in every Chick Track that faith in Jesus Christ is insufficient to save unless you are willing to cease from your sins. That is works salvation!!! Mr. Chick puts the cart before the horse, demanding a willingness to change as a qualifying prerequisite to faith in Christ. That is a back door approach to Lordship Salvation. I am not loyal to men, but to the Word of God. Anyone who messes with the Gospel needs to be exposed. Jack Chick is hindering sinners from coming to Christ!

But that raises to me the question if one has sincere faith in Jesus why would that individual be unwilling to stop sinning?? "Works salvation" is an inescapable side effect of sincerely held belief in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

To posit a real world example: simultaneous, concurrent and totally synchronized ejaculation into a child's butt and belief in Jesus Christ.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

I was saying i HAD met protestants who say Catholics aren't Christians.

Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

To clarify, i wasn't referring to the theists on AF, but those that members here may have met in real life.

I agree... I'd say most long time theists here are legit folks.

"Jews for Jesus" are getting to be, in my view, the reference standard for understanding Jesus and following His lead.  So imagine where I'm thinking protestants and catholics rate in the big scheme of things, [snicker].

BTW;

driving on the right = Protestantism

driving on the left = Catholicism

I don't understand this post.
