His core base will never stop supporting him (unless he decides to let in more immigrants, I honestly think that is the ONLY thing that would turn them).
This Syria thing seems to have actually gained him a little support among independent voters, because some people always react positively to that sort of chest thumping, meaningless, macho BS.
