These catholics don't seem to understand that when you die, you're just DEAD. Boom. You've lived your life, and it's time to go. They keep saying "Well, if you don't believe in god, then where do you go?" I tell them what I just said, but is there a better way to get through their thick heads?

They want to believe there's some magical place that you go when you die. I like to ask them if there is a heaven, can we expect to find Neanderthals there? What about other early humans? At what point in our evolutionary history did we become human enough to be allowed into heaven? Where was the cutoff?

I like this quote (I believe it was Mark Twain who said it, and I don't recall exactly, so I might be paraphrasing):

"I was not inconvenienced one bit before I was born. And I expect I will not be inconvenienced one bit by my death."
Science flies us to the moon and stars. Religion flies us into buildings.

God allowed 200,000 people to die in an earthquake. So what makes you think he cares about YOUR problems?
