As long as the number of pixels across that 30 degrees is such that the eye is just a smidge to far away to resolve them, I wouldn't complain. Don't make me get out my HP41CX to work out the angles subtended by pixels !!
Neglecting HDR and an expanded color palette for the moment, detail in the picture is the point of HD. Sitting too far away means you're de-rezing the picture, and I can not bear the thought of that !! With the eye just a skosh further than the distance where the individual pixels would start to become visible is the 'definition' of the sweet spot. How much further away (and how much resulting less visible detail) would anyone seriously recommend than the 'sweet spot' ?? Double the distance so you effectively see your 4K picture in '2K' ?? Or 4 times the distance to see your 4K picture in 'regular' HD ?? See what I'm getting at ? The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.
I do have one beef with UHD. The picture is so good that most shows wind up looking badly staged. Like "daytime soap" badly staged. Fortunately, taking the judder control off of automatic and setting it by hand greatly reduces this.

Yeah, the projector reviewers have said of the 4k projectors that they are so good that all movies look like the "making of"!
Who wants to see the makeup covering Emily Blunt's pimples on her face? Another good reason to sit back while watching 4k.

Finally figured out what was bugging me about this. Faces. I'm used to kabuki mask effects, faces without the minutia we see IRL. With this system I'm seeing large faces with the tiny flaws you'd see in real life but aren't used to seeing on the screen. Weird. I'm actively avoiding the nostrils.
