Welcome aboard! Italy in the house. Been there and liked it a lot. Best food I've eaten in Europe, though I admit I haven't yet visited or dined in Portugal. We visited the houses where my wife's father's mother and father were born in the province of Pordenone. Visited with lots of my wife Lia's cousins. We were in Belluno in a large tent down town to watch Italy (sadly) lose to Brazil in a shoot out of the 1994 FIFA world cup finals. Took trains out of Paris where we were living for the summer to Venice and then rented a car. Good times. Glad to have you here.

What part of Italy? Lia's grandparents on her father's side are both from northeastern Italy and her father was the only one of their five children not born there too. Jim (not "James" because they wanted him to have a good American name) lived to be 96.
