Did Lincoln order the kidnapping of a US Senator?
My professor decades ago in my US History to 1877 class claimed this, but I cannot find anything online about it.  Supposedly, a US Senator from the North was critical of Lincoln, and so, Abe sent some thugs to kidnap him and shipped him off to the Confederacy.  Later on, he escaped back to the North by going through Canada.

Probably a personal conspiracy theory of his most likely created so he could earn tenure.

He already had tenure, but I think that the exact opposite would happen, give the faculty senate a reason to deny tenure.
