We know what happens to most people who go long periods of time without eating much of anything. That's why we have the phrase "skin and bones". It just isn't done. They're either lying, or they're getting nutrients intravenously, or something. That is not the picture of two people who have barely eaten for nine years. Perhaps it's the "before" picture, and somebody lost the "after" picture where they look like skeletons wearing Human skin, with bloated stomaches.

When I saw the article's headline, I thought "sounds like some California bullshit right there". Sure enough - the story says they split their time between California and Ecuador lol
