The people who benefited from the electoral college are the ones who would have to get rid of it, so in the short term, it's not a very useful focus.

I think Texas is closer to becoming reasonable than South Carolina, but I haven't given up hope. It helps that I live in one of the more reasonable patches.

I have to remind myself of that. Living near Austin, it's too easy at times to forget that only the cities are politically diverse. But it's a start.

All the cities in Texas tend to be much more liberal. It's the hinterlands when you find conservatism run amok.

Living 30 miles from Austin, the folks here are a mix of the two.
