High blood pressure

RE: High blood pressure
Yep, I have high BP, but well managed. I take Ramipril and Aditiazem. I am vegetarian and have a low fat diet. I play sports, but Rugby is hurting even more as I approach my fifties.

A fair amount.

Yes.

Regularly scheduled check-ups; now only once yearly for me, due to continually stable labs and readings. I self-monitor my BP, and take the medication prescribed to me (a combination ACE inhibitor/mild diuretic) as directed.

Mine isn't curable, only treatable. Almost EVERYONE in family has it; big, tall, skinny, small....matters not. Genetic predisposition.

Keep scheduled appointments. Monitor your BP. Take your medication as directed.

What I eat specifically, doesn't seem to impact my readings so much as maintaining a normal, healthy weight in general. Thus far, it's allowed me to take a minimal dosage of medication, and consistently maintain slightly low to low-normal readings. Aside from periodic episodes of orthostatic hypotension (which I manage easily enough with proper fluid intake), I have no major issues/complaints.

I'm old school; I use a manual self-taking blood pressure cuff to monitor my BP at home.

I bought my parents an automatic brachial cuff. The units that take a brachial reading (upper arm) are reasonably reliable/accurate. However, the automatic wrist cuffs, (and the patient as well), have to be positioned perfectly every time for accurate results using  that method, making it much more sbject to human error.

Never heard of the latter, neither has the net. Sure you spelled it right?

Pool: If there is high blood pressure the cause is clear, you have too much blood. The cure is leeches, lots and lots of leeches.

See a qualified medical professional and follow their instructions.

Yep, brain fart on my part. I mixed part of the brand name with the compound name.

I should have said Diltiazem Hydrochloride. I take 120mg slow release PD. Brand in UK is Adizem XL

Dx'd in 1988. Still trying to get it under control. B/P goes from 205/102 to 60/42 in one day. Much fun.

Diet? According to Garfield 3/4s of "diet" is "die".

How do you feel when your BP is really high? Like, do you feel tired, dizzy, blurry vision, etc? Mom's got a combination of those..she just wants to rest rest rest but she needs to EXERCISE.. I took her jogging, well not really jogging she's too old for that, more like fast paced walking for the last 2 days and she feels a lot better afterwards .damn I got a small swelling in my jaw and the side of the head coupled with tonsils swelling for whatever reason? So...anyway the symptoms..i mean how you feel when your BP gets high?

You need to eat lots of packets of salt, sleep less and gain weight...just do the opposite of what they say you do for high bp Tongue I'll hide before becs smack a medical text on my head..

RE: High blood pressure
I've run normal all my life -- around 125/75. I don't take any special steps to do this, but I do (mostly) eat a well-balanced diet cooked mostly from fresh food (minimal canned foods or prepackaged dinners.) It's a lot more work but I can feel the difference.
