Bill Maher is an arrogant intolerant elitist pompous ass. Calling people stupid or launching into verbal assaults against those who don't agree with you will not advance a cause of any kind. If there's a point to be made in a debate, make it without the childish rantings and name calling of a 16 year old...

Quote:is is TOO good to miss!: Hillarious! I didnt know they had comedians for atheists. Note: How can he call himself a 'rationalist' when he uses the straw man fallacy more times than a Fundie would use a KJV bible in there life? Its ok to have doubt, just dont let that doubt become the answers.

Typical Maher, a polemicists somewhere down market of of Michael Moore ,if that's possible .
The clips is certainly a bit wry, but I don't mistake its contents for rational argument. Maher is a comic ,who can can be mildly amusing, but he's no philosopher. The sweeping generalisation that believers are irrational, crazy or stupid is bigoted nonsense. One really should try not to judge all believers by those who tend infest atheist forums and the dropkicks who make the news. Most believers I run across in real life seem to be sane enough, until religion comes up. At such times some may come over all unnecessary and we're allowed to kill them. Having said that ,the leader of the opposition here is Tony Abbot. He is a rabid Catholic who takes advice from that slimy Cardinal George Pell, protector of child molesting priests and general Catholic apologist. Abbot may well be our next Prime Minister, a thought I find exceedingly disconcerting. Quote:but he's no philosopher. Thank goodness. Too many fucking philosophers around. OTOH, Maher's point is that if a politician believes in magic underwear or talking snakes it should be taken as evidence that he is not quite rational. I agree with Maher. I would never vote for a nut case like Romney or Huckabee/Palin/any-of-the-other-fundie-shithead.
