Continuity and Admixture in the Last Five Millennia of Levantine History from Ancient Canaanite and Present-Day Lebanese Genome Sequences

We find that a Bronze Age Canaanite-related ancestry was widespread in the region, shared among urban populations inhabiting the coast (Sidon) and inland populations (Jordan) who likely lived in farming societies or were pastoral nomads. This Canaanite-related ancestry derived from mixture between local Neolithic populations and eastern migrants genetically related to Chalcolithic Iranians. We estimate, using linkage-disequilibrium decay patterns, that admixture occurred 6,600–3,550 years ago, coinciding with recorded massive population movements in Mesopotamia during the mid-Holocene. We show that present-day Lebanese derive most of their ancestry from a Canaanite-related population, which therefore implies substantial genetic continuity in the Levant since at least the Bronze Age.

Ok so if I am reading that article correctly, DNA tracking says people migrated or fled, but the bible says to destroy them. Am I understanding that correctly?

If so then yea I agree either his followers suck or he sucks because because DNA proves their genes survived while the bible said his followers were to destroy those lines.

Yep pretty sucky god when you tell your followers to do something and later it is proven it didn't get done. Maybe it didn't get done because it is just a story and god does not exist?

Or maybe it was merely political propaganda of it's time and like all new writings of religion is written out of competition to surrounding ideas and while some might have supported it, those outside that belief didn't and either stood up and fought or fled. 

But taken as mere literature it still is contradicted by science.

There's the entirely absent kind.

It's not so much like some engineer performed some sloppy work on your car... it's more like some engineer fucked off completely and let your car recover on its own.

I get what you are saying, but a car is an object and if it breaks down it needs human help and cannot recover on it's own.

I'd put it more like you are not feeling well, you go see a doctor, the doctor is off playing golf so the nurse gives you the diagnosis, you end up saying to yourself it isn't that bad so you don't go back and it turns out it really was just the flu and you feel fine in a few days.

Basically the REAL humans back then had different tribes and aspirations and competed and the bible itself had no real authority or predictive properties. Because if that God were real and that is what he wanted it should have happened, but DNA once again blows old mythology out of the water.
