Mythicist Milwaukee
Mythicist Milwaukee, just wondering if anyone is planning to go, ever has gone, or just thought about doing so...

Conference Website

Even though I'm a Christian, I'm thinking about going just because it is not that far away and could be fun.

Does this have anything to do with the "Holy Shit!" series featured on the Roku Atheism Everywhere app? I thought I saw it mentioned in one of the videos,

This is the first I've heard of it, but I won't be going. Too far and too many mythicist people think Zeitgeist is good scholarship.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

So let's say there was some guy that was used as a template for Jesus, I mean there were certainly people that were described of living similar lives back then, like Jesus ben Ananias would that make you feel more comfortable then if Jesus was completely invented? Would that show if Gun Loving Jesus of Republicans is more right then Gun Hating And Medicare Loving Jesus of Democrats was right?
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

I don't care enough about the Mythicist hypothesis to go.

Even if there is a historic figure at the root of the Jesus legend, that would not offer a shred of evidence for any of the supernatural, magic, god-man claims attributed to him.

Have fun whoever goes.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

It will take a hell of a lot more than a Mythicist conference to lure me to Milwaukee.

I think the two could be connected Shy
