God on trial
#21
RE: God on trial
So which character is the Christian God? Is it Yeshua, the self-confessed glutton and wine bibber, or is it Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews and the God of the armies?

I don't why but I just can't stop laughing whenever I look at this Big Grin... not just your post but the context it's in in the thread as well.

Anyway it seems to me that in such a case, every theist in existence would be his lawyers... cos he never speaks for himself; only through his various public defenders. It's an interesting analogy to think how it would play out in a courtroom.

This god can't do anything for itself. It can't defend itself, it can't speak for itself, it can't exist by itself. It can't even take offence for itself. It's the most powerless entity ever invented. Even the dumbest single cell organism is more powerful.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Can't be that weak! It's brought 80% of the world to its knees!

Yeah.  Imagine one of the lawyers saying "do you recognize the defendant sitting at the defense table?"

And the witness saying "there is no one sitting at the defense table, asshole."

Wouldn't look good in court!

Guilty.

The sentence is death.
Dying to live, living to die.

No, they did that to themselves. Religions exist, even if the gods don't.
