Emotions are intrinsically good and bad

No I would not as I think that's an incredibly short sighted view of well-being. And it's like completely ignoring all the negative side effects of drugs and the horror that is drug addiction.

You also talked about positive and negative experiences earlier.  I, myself, have never had any real positive or negative experience.  My positive and negative emotions have always been the only states of mind that possess the real positive and negative quality for me.

bold mine

No offense intended but can you tell us who made this diagnosis? (professional degree) FYI, emotional trauma can be a cause/symptom of clinical depression. One is not necessarily exclusive of the other.

RE: Emotions are intrinsically good and bad
How To Obtain The Positive (Good) Quality You Need In Your Life:  There are mental health conditions that can actually prevent you from getting the positive quality into your life even if you had a positive mindset.  That all goes back to my personal experience.  I could either be mentally disabled which prevents me from obtaining an alternative form of this positive quality besides my positive emotions, positive emotions could truly be the only positive quality which means that there would be various factors that can prevent us from obtaining this positive quality, or that there are also many factors as well that can prevent us from obtaining an alternative form of this positive quality even if you were not mentally disabled.  Just as how there are many factors that can prevent us from feeling positive emotions such as stressful life events, brain damage, etc., these factors could also apply to the alternative form of this positive quality as well.  In which case, having the positive quality is not about a positive mindset alone.  A positive mindset has to be complimented with a healthy, functioning brain as well as other factors in order for you to obtain the positive quality into your life.

If you wish to obtain an optimal amount of this positive quality, then that would require both an optimal mindset and factors.  Therefore, this means that those miserable genius artists, if they had an alternative form of this positive quality besides their positive emotions, didn't just have a positive mindset.  They also had fortunate factors in their lives as well that allowed them to have this alternative positive quality.  The very idea of the very thing we need in our lives (the positive quality) to make our lives truly good, beautiful, and worth living being dependent upon fortunate factors in addition to a positive mindset might sound very unfair.  But, then again, isn't life unfair already?  There are many people out there in this world who only live a few months before passing away due to starvation or some fatal disease.  You can't always have what you want in life.

Many people just want to personally define their own values, happiness, worth, and joy and they somehow believe that these personally defined values give their lives real values.  But, like I said before, personal definitions do not dictate reality and it is instead about the qualities.  If you were in some area of the world scarce of water and you wanted real water in your life, then a personally defined version of water will not do.  You need actual water.  But if you are that type of person who can obtain hardly or any real water in your life at all, then you are just the very unfortunate one.  Likewise, if you are someone who cannot obtain any real positive quality mental state in your life to give your life real good value no matter what you do and no matter what you think, then you are also the unfortunate one.

Life Is An Unfair Struggle:  Since the positive quality is the only thing we have to make our lives good and since there are numerous factors that can take it away from us, then life is a struggle and a battle to obtain it.  Rich, happy, and wealthy people would have much of it while depressed, poor people would have little to none of it.  This means that having good value and worth in our lives is sort of like money.  Money isn't something you can make magically appear yourself by personally defining it to be there when it's not.  Therefore, not only do poor and miserable people struggle to make money, but they would also be struggling to obtain much of this positive quality in their lives as well.

Instead of this life being fair and offering us the option of personally defining our own values, it is like an animal kingdom where we all struggle and fight to obtain a sacred item or treasure (the positive quality).  After all, it's the only thing that can truly make our lives good.  So, why wouldn't anyone struggle and fight to obtain as much of it as they can in their lives?  Sure, this positive quality is to be treated like some materialistic desire such as money where we all fight to obtain as much as we can of it in our lives all the while still not being reckless and still making wise choices, but this positive quality is far more profound, vital, and precious than any materialistic item in this world.

Even the most expensive and luxurious item would be nothing in your life without the positive quality.  The positive quality is not something that can be purchased, but you can find ways to somehow restore or obtain even more of it in your life to give your life even more good value.  For example, during my worst miserable moments, I have chosen to get help and it is this help which allowed me to recover over time.  So, that is one way.  Another way would be purchasing things or doing certain activities that would help make your brain healthier so that it can allow you to have more of this positive quality in your life.  Such an example would be exercising, eating right, and staying healthy.

Power And Strength Isn't Enough:  Many people would tell me that I have no power, regulation, and dominance over my emotions which is the reason why they rule the values of my life.  Even if I did have complete dominance and strength over my emotions so that miserable/hopeless emotions would not cripple me as much as they did before, I would still require the positive quality to make my life worth living.  So, I would still require either my positive emotions or an alternative form of the positive quality in my life.  I can be a strong and tough man all I want to.  But without the positive quality in my life, then I can only be something like a tough machine just living out the motions and nothing more.

You Are Better Off Dead:  If you are someone who struggles with a mental disability and/or mental illness, you have very little to none of this positive quality in your life, and your disability and/or illness prevents you from obtaining the sufficient or full amount of it you need to make your life sufficiently or fully good and worth living, then you are better off dead.  You should end your life providing that you had to live most or your entire life like this.  It's as they always say:  only the strong survive and the weak perish.  It is, therefore, a misconception to think that true strength comes about through moving forward in life despite any mental illness or disability.  The only true strength in life would be the positive quality since that is the only thing that can make our lives truly worth living.

As long as you have little to none of it in your life, then you are weak and need to perish.  It's sad, but true.  I am not trying to be mean to mentally disabled or mentally ill people as I am one of these people.  As a matter of fact, I honor and respect those who have struggled much of their lives.  All I am saying here is that, without the positive quality, then our lives can truly amount to nothing regardless of what we do, how we think, how much we have helped others, etc.  As for me, I am all better now.  I am fully recovered and have the positive quality fully back into my life again (that positive quality, for me, being my positive emotions).  This means that I am all strong now and ready to survive (live my life the best I can doing my hobbies and whatnot).  But what about others who are left weak?  Well, they are just the sad and unfortunate ones and we can only hope that something will help them regain their personal positive quality.

If your experiences are not positive or negative then how can your experiences of positive and negative emotions be positive and negative?

Because my emotions are the only positive and negative states of mind for me.  I have never had any other positive and negative state.  This means that it is only my emotions which possess the real positive and negative quality to them.

See you are contradicting yourself because emotions are experiences so if experiences are not good or bad then emotions aren't either.

But I am only referring to those types of emotions that I have defined which were the biochemical emotions.  I am not talking about any other types of emotions.  Those other emotions are not any real emotions at all in my life since they possess no real positive or negative quality to them.

All kinds of emotions of value are experienced. If you think you value unconscious emotions you're not even aware... you are mistaken.

I haven't experienced any positive emotion during my miserable moments.  I believed that getting help was something good and beautiful, but there was no positive quality there whatsoever.  That is the reason why I say that no other emotions exist for me since these other emotions possess no real positive or negative quality to them.
