I am hardly politically correct, but just so you know, "Jap" to Japanese is a pejorative. FYI my X is Japanese. I am sure you don't mean it as a pejorative, but just be aware because it really is not something you say to complete strangers. It really is no different than I can get away with calling my friend John a "redneck" because I know him, but he does hate that word being used as a slur blanket statement being a liberal in a red state.
Funny story long ago when I was still married to her, she worked at a candle/soap factory as a chemist. The security guard was a nice guy and a "redneck". So one day I go to pick her up, and ask him to page her, and he says, "Oh you mean the Jap?" I wasn't pissed as much as surprised thinking, "Um really, you do know whom you are talking to right?" I know he didn't mean it, but still, not really a thing to do with people you don't know well. My Jap wife has a masters degree and a PHD in microbiology. The only thing I get angry at Japs about is that I didn't see a giant lizard when I visited Tokyo. That's fucking false advertisement. I felt jipped.

Very cool! Reminds me of bands that took traditional/ folk music and rocked it. Like The Pogues or the Bad Livers. I can count to ten in Japanese and know the Japanese names for Judo throws. I also love Kurosawa films.
