No, it is not a catch 22.

Any god, who wants me to know he exists, and understands what constitutes evidence based thinking, reasoned argument, and valid/sound logic, would also understand my reasons for not being convinced he exists. He would also know how to convince me, yet he constantly fails to do so.

So, I am left with the following conclusions:

1. He doesn't care if I believe he exists.
2. He does not manifest in reality, therefore leaves no evidence of his existence. And is therefore indistinguishable from a god that does not exist.
3. Or he doesn't exist.

If he exists, yet refuses to demonstrate his existence to me, and is going to punish me for not believing he exists, then I want nothing to do with a god like that. That is an immoral god.

Yes, these three gods are indistinguishable:

1) Absent
2) Indifferent
3) Non-existent

Technically and less plausibly I suppose you could ad 4) Hiding just to dick with us or more concisely, 4) Sadistic.

Nothing says god has to be present, caring, and existing ... it's fine if he's not, except that there are so many lavish claims / promises otherwise in scripture, that god, if it exists, is not only AWOL and uncaring but a bald-faced liar.

If as you say...........there are so many lavish claims / promises otherwise in scripture, that god, if it exists............blah, blah, blah...............then take the complain with those who write those books or the religions that say this or that.

I got two swimming pools and both have a 5 meter diving board but with a difference.
One pool is full of water while the other is empty (full of air).
All you have to do is jump down from both pools and see whether there is any difference or not.
We got water in one and air in the other so both are compound as you say.
Are you ready to jump in both pools Jack?
There shouldn't be any difference because as you say air and water are both compound, isn't it Jack?

I don't think there shouldn't be any problem by jumping in the empty pool.
In case you smash your skull   in the empty pool LR will be there to put what is left of your brain back inside the skull.

I propose an alternative experiment.  We take the same set up - two diving boards and two pools, one pool filled with water, one pool filled with air.  I dive into the water pool, Rik dives into the air pool.  On the way down, I belt out a chorus of Minchin's 'Ten Foot Cock And A Few Hundred Virgins', while Rik prays as hard as he possibly can that Jesus will keep him from being smashed to jelly when he lands in the air-filled pool.

I am willing to conduct this experiment any time, any place, and I promise to abide by the results.

Well actually I did. I don't think god wrote those ... since I don't believe in god to begin with. God did not author scripture or found religions.

However, self-styled god-followers DO make those claims and often impose them on others, so that is what I'm addressing -- the actual harm.

Of course if you disavow both the scriptures and religious tradition as a source of information about what god does or doesn't promise TO people or require OF people ... then you are left with your personal claims about what god says to you, which can be dismissed out of hand as not being useful information for anyone but yourself.

If you eat moderately your body will benefit but if you eat like a pig you will get sick.
One thing that still you haven't understand Jack is that there is only one thing that we humans can gorge in to with positive effects and that is spirituality but unfortunately for you this is something that will enter your limited skull in future lives.

1) Actually I do not..........disavow the scriptures 100%.
Some of the scriptures may well contain some or a lot of truth.
What I am saying is that the corrupted priest in the past and in the present twisted these truth so to control the mind of the masses.
The hell is the typical dogma created by these corrupted priest just to mention one.

2) What I am left with is the fact that as I already said to brother Jack when you are ready the teacher will appear so books or not book you still get the knowledge to start your journey to the goal of life.
